One of the reasons for Saint Vincent de Paul to be considered a key figure in the history of the holiness of the Church is his style of living his vocation.

This week’s example is:
Vincent rejected, in spite of the great esteem he had for it, the traditional state for his Missioners and for his Daughters of Charity. He started a new style of community in the Church. Above all he brought the feminine religious life out of the walls and grills of the convent, out to the vast field of the real life of men and women, to serve in authentic communion with them in their sufferings and needs.
