Vincentian Prayer Images: Walking Through Each Day with St. Vincent XII
Here is another in our series of “Praying Our Heritage.” The series illustrates quotes from key figures in the Vincentian Heritage.
Let the image and the quote sink in, and take root. These images might surprise you into prayer at various points in your day.
Walking through each day with St. Vincent
St. Vincent told the Daughters of Charity: “You see, Sisters, what fidelity you owe to God. The practice of your vocation consists in the frequent remembrance of the presence of God. To make this easy for yourself, take advantage of the reminder given when the clock strikes, and make an act of adoration at that time. To make this act is to say in your heart, ‘My God, I adore You,’ or simply, ‘My God, You are my God,’ ‘My God, I love You with my whole heart,’ ‘I wish, O my God, that everyone might know and honor You in honor of the contempt You endured on earth.’ When you begin these acts, you may close your eyes to recollect yourselves.”
Typically we use many kinds of reminders to help us get through the day— alarm clock, computer notifications, calendars, to-do lists… how much more should we remind ourselves to make a simple prayer at each hour throughout the day.
For the more visually oriented among us, you don’t have to wait for the weekly image on Tuesday. You can browse for yourself. You can even search for images related to key words. Visit and search VinFormation’s database of prayer images.
We hope you will enjoy these time-release prayer capsules!
We would also welcome you sharing with all of us images that inspired you to prayer.
