Missionary Call of Father Tomaž Mavrič, C.M.

by | Oct 27, 2018 | Formation, Missions inter gentes, Reflections

As every October, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission (CM) has written a letter to all the members of the CM requesting their generosity, both personal and material, to continue the work of evangelization in different parts of the globe. The mission “Ad Gentes,” as we call it, is part of the charism of going out to announce the Good News to all peoples, and bonds us to the early days of the Vincentian Family, when, at the time of St. Vincent de Paul, the missions outside of France began.

This missionary call, specific to the members of the Congregation of the Mission, also serves as reflection and encouragement to the rest of the members of the Vincentian Family, so we invite you to read and reflect on it.

“I belong neither here nor there,
but wherever God wants me to be.”
(
St Vincent de Paul)

Father Tomaž Mavrič, C.M, says in this letter:

Saint Vincent had a deep conviction of the mission Jesus entrusted to him and to all who belong to the Little Company [th3e Congregation of the Mission].

The year 2018 is the beginning of the fifth century of the Vincentian Charism.

In the “Little Company’s” extraordinary history it achieved many wonderful things when its members put all their trust in Providence, acting with humility, recognizing that all is grace and comes from Jesus’s initiative, accompaniment, and vision. Therefore, we look forward with total trust, convinced that, if we keep walking along the same path, we will bring into the fifth century the mission that Jesus entrusted to Saint Vincent 400 years ago, keeping it going with the heartfelt desire to reach the farthest corners of the world.

The members of the Vincentian Family can make a similar reflection, regardless of the branch to which each one of us belong: Will we be missionaries, wherever we are, or wherever God wants us to be in the future?
