Invitation to a mini-retreat with the Pope

by | Mar 5, 2016 | Church, Formation, Reflections

Ten questions for the Vincentian Family…and for the Pope and his Curia.
I recently saw notice that Pope Francis and members of the Roman Curia will spend March 6 through March 10 at the Casa Divin Maestro in Ariccia, Italy. But what really struck me was the set of 10 questions they will be asking themselves. As I read them I thought of how apt these questions are for those who seek to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, Vincent and Louise.
Fr. Ermes Ronchi, of the Servants of Mary, will lead the group in spiritual exercises based on 10 questions from the Gospels. Why not make a mini-retreat with Pope Francis and take one question a day for the next ten days?

1. ā€œWhat are you looking for?ā€ (John 1:38)

2. ā€œWhy are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?ā€ (Mark 4:40)

3. ā€œYou are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again?ā€ (Matthew 5:13)

4. ā€œBut who do you say that I am?ā€ (Luke 9:20)

5. ā€œThen, turning to the woman, he told Simon, ā€˜Do you see this woman?ā€™ā€ (Luke 7:44)

6. ā€œHow many loaves do you have?ā€ (Mark 6:38, Matthew 15:34)

7. ā€œStraightening up, Jesus said to her, ā€˜Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?ā€™ā€ (John 8:10)

8. ā€œWoman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?ā€ (John 20:15)

9.ā€œSimon, son of John, do you love me?ā€ (John 21:16)

10. ā€œMary said to the angel, ā€˜How can this be?ā€™ā€ (Luke 1:34).
