Chopin - perhaps most famous Vincentian parishioner

Chopin (b. 1810) and his family were Holy Cross parishioners for all the time they lived in Warsaw. Holy Cross church and parish is the first Vincentian foundation in Poland (1653). In 1827 they moved to Krasinski Palace which is next to Holy Cross church. Frederic’s father, a French expatriate, become French teacher in the secondary school called Warsaw Lyceum.

    The heart of Chopin is preserved in Holy Cross Church which is under the pastoral care of the CMs of the Province of Poland. This is an historic parish for the Vincentians as they first began to minister there during the lifetime of Vincent de Paul ! See the English version of the Polish Province website.
