Daughters of Charity cemetery has largest tree in Missouri
The 114-foot-tall shingle oak was growing in the Daughters of Charity Cemetery in Normandy has been confirmed by foresters with the Missouri Department of Conservation as the biggest of its kind in its state. It is now officially a Missouri State Champion Big Tree. Students and faculty in the Campus Honors Environmental Research program found the tree and were the first to measure it.

You all know what this means?!!! That cemetary is protected by the Dept of Conservation! When I used to visit the cemetary, there were no houses so close as in this picture. ‘Development’ is closing in. But now, for sure, God has laid his hand on this land, this earth, this D.C. cemetary and protected it! And my best friend is buried there…as are many of my former teachers, and Viz’s, and just plain buddies of yore. Breathe a sigh of relief and rest well, ye who have gone before me!
