St. Vincent de Paul Store Goes Boutique

It has become a trend for such charities as Goodwill to open stores that are more like traditional big-box retailers than the old, dingy thrift stores of the past.

Now the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix has taken the trend a step further: It has opened a furniture boutique.

Ozzie’s Furnishings, which opened earlier this month at 3931 E. Indian School Road, “offers elegant home furnishings, personalized customer service and reasonable prices, all in a boutique-style setting,” said Steve Zabilski, St. Vincent de Paul.

…Because donations are cyclical, our current thrift shops have been an effective means for helping to make up funds during times we tend to fall short,” Zabilski said. “Although these shops remain successful, we are constantly searching for new ways to bring in more donations so we can further reverse low points and potentially provide more services to people in need. We discovered a trend in boutique-style stores and developed Ozzie’s Furnishings as a way to tap into this niche market.”
