The Heart of a Vincentian 04 #famvin2024

Interview with Fr. Manuel Ginete, C.M., Philippines, and FHA Commission. Father Ginete has worked previously in the Vincentian Family Office in Rome (2004-2010), and in Africa with Solidarity with South Sudan where we also focused on helping the poor in that country (2011-2019).

1. What motivates you to attend the November 2024 meeting?

I am a firm believer in the Vincentian Family and its potential to do very important projects for the poor and the marginalized.

And why would you recommend participating?

The international reach of the VF is its most distinctive character, and we need to explore and make use of it as much as we can. That is why I look forward to the VF Gathering in November.

2. Why is it important to walk together as a Vincentian Family?

Member organizations of the Vincentian Family have been privileged to share in the charism of St. Vincent De Paul. It is a charism with many faces and could involve many persons, organizations and entities. The VF is one of a kind in the universal Church that is focused on doing something concrete, realistic and effective for the poor.

3. If you think of the word synodality, what image comes to mind?

The VF has long practiced synodality in the sense of collaborative initiatives, listening to and learning from one another, especially from the poor themselves. Around the table of the Vincentian Family we appreciate one another, are motivated and inspired by each other’s work(s), and seek to be deeply rooted in Vincent’s spirit and values.
