The objective of this project was to finance the training and the sewing equipment of 5 young women who wanted to become financially independent.

The majority of them are single mothers of disabled children, or are themselves sometimes affected by a disability. They particularly needed to find professional stability in order to be able to support themselves and their children.

Sister Jeannette explains:

“As soon as we received the funds for the project, we purchased the sewing machines and all the necessary materials (fabrics, linings, the thread to make various clothes or bags). Once the teacher was hired, the training could begin.”

Isabelle, a recipient of the project, is a 25-year-old woman who lost both her parents. Her health had not allowed her to finish her studies, and she did not know how to earn a living.

“Intelligent and full of willpower, she is now able to make high quality clothes. She thanks with all her heart all the people who have contributed to the realization of this project.”

Sister Jeannette adds:

“We see great progress in the formation of these young women. We can clearly feel by their will that this project is very beneficial, they are evolving and have already learned several models. We can also see the deep joy they have in feeling valued. The first direct beneficiaries are five young women, and their families but we estimate that there are 400 total beneficiaries of the fruits of this project.”

“We, poor young women and girls in Yaoundé, did not know how to make a living.

You have paved the way for us to learn sewing and we thank you for the sewing machines and materials that you have provided us through the Daughters of Charity of Nsimalen.
