FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The National Council of the U.S., Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Gathers in St. Louis for Annual Midyear Meeting

The National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, will host its annual Midyear Business Meeting, March 16 – 19, 2022 at the Hilton at the Ballpark in St. Louis, Missouri. The event has been held virtually for the last two years, and this year’s gathering marks the first in-person Midyear Meeting since 2019.

About 200 Vincentian leaders and volunteers from across the country are expected to attend the event. The agenda is packed with education, spirituality, and informative information about the Society’s work helping neighbors in need across the country.

“We are excited to be back together in person this year after two years of cancellations and distance meeting,” says National CEO Dave Barringer. “The friendship we extend to each other in person is an essential element of our Vincentian leadership and charism.”

With nearly 100,000 members serving in more than 4,400 parishes across the country, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the world’s largest lay Catholic organization. The National Council of the United States is headquartered in Maryland Heights, MO. Originally founded in Paris in 1833, the Society’s roots in the United States trace back to 1845, when the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul was established at St. Louis’ Old Cathedral.

Since its founding in Paris in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has grown to 800,000 members in over 150 countries with 1,500,000 volunteers. Vincentians understand that service to a neighbor in need is an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, and are aware that poverty, suffering, and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s work is unique in that Vincentians offer tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or through direct financial or in-kind service.
