Easter Message from Father Tomaž Mavrič

by | Apr 13, 2020 | News, Vincentian Family

On this Easter day, the President of the Executive Comittee of the Vincentian Family, Father Tomaž Mavrič, CM, published a series of videos in various languages (Italian, French, Spanish and English) to encourage those who follow the charism of Saint Vincent de Paul and to urge them to help those in need … even during this time of the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

Below, we present a transcript of the video:

Dear brothers and sisters of the worldwide Vincentian Family,

This year’s celebration of Holy Week occurs in a context that we could never have imagined. Holy Week is evolving in the midst of the pandemic of Covid-19, that in one way or another is affecting the lives of people around the world.

Jesus’ passion and death has been repeated over and over again in all the corners of the world, but just as suffering and death has become so very visible, so also has the Resurrection. There are resurrections happening here and now, on earth, in the hearts, minds and bodies of so many people, leading us to the final and lasting Resurrection: eternal life.

There is goodness … with the passing of each day, charity emerges more and more clearly, at an incredible pace, in all directions of the globe and there is an eagerness to help men and women in need wherever they may be (to provide these people with spiritual, physical, emotional and material assistance) . Jesus has been resurrected in the hearts, minds and bodies of so many people.

As members of the Vincentian Family (in the widest sense of the word), we are invited to keep spreading charity to the farthest corners of the earth, and our mission is not accomplished until charity is globalized.

Let us continue to help one another to always engender a new resurrection in the hearts, minds and bodies of people so that together we may attain that final Resurrection: eternal life.

Hallelujah. Praise the Lord!

In the Italian video, Father Tomaz reminds us that those who live in accord with the Vincentian charism do not wait for the poor to approach them, but rather reach out to those who are poor.
