The Congregation of the Mission sponsors four universities throughout the world. Adamson, in the Philippines, celebrates Vincent with a special award!

As part of the celebration of its 85 years of existence as a university, Adamson once again held the Saint Vincent de Paul National Awards, 4th edition, on September 26 at the Adamson University Theater.

This recognition activity is named after St. Vincent de Paul, founder of the Congregation of the Mission or Vincentians, and Patron Saint of Adamson University. The awards recognize the unity and synergy of people and organizations working together towards the empowerment of poor communities to take responsibility and direction for their own destiny and to change the unjust structures that keep them in poverty. It honors organizations, regardless of socio-political-religious affiliation and orientation, which have not only promoted effective and concrete short- and long-term solutions to poverty, but also, and most importantly, uplift the dignity and empower the poor and their community.

Six nominees were evaluated and accepted: Bahay Tuluyan (Metro Manila/Quezon/Laguna), Bilibid Extension Program (University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA), Ecological Solid Waste Management Program (Antipolo City), Kaibigan Ministry Center for Continuing Transformation, Inc., Project Inclusion (Unilab Foundation, Inc.), and Samahan ng Maliliit na Mangingisda sa Dagupan City. From among them, one was chosen as the SVP National Awardee for 2017.

The SVP National Awards was created in 2010 to promote the Systemic Change Initiative of the Vincentian Family as a creative approach not only in helping the poor meet their basic human needs but also, most importantly, in assisting them to change unjust structures that keep them poor.
