FAVISAL: Dialogue with Fr. Tomaž Mavrič, CM, 24th Successor of St. Vincent
FAVISAL (the Vincentian Family in El Salvador) share with us their impressions, after a virtual meeting with the Superior General, Tomaž Mavrič, CM, held in May, 2017:
We were motivated by the closeness and warmth with which he greeted us. He made us think with the three points he communicated to us to strengthen our mission:
- Continue strengthening this beautiful Family in each country. My prayer accompanies you. As a Family, we are united to you, I believe and I hope that you too keep united in the prayer and in the charism that, for 400 years, has remained faithful to the mission and to charity for the poor.
- These 400 years are of grace are an opportunity to invite, to make, to encourage initiatives in the field of vocations. I invite you each to invite a candidate, male or female, especially to the consecrated life, or to one of the branches in each of our countries.
- We are preparing the International Symposium in Rome of FamVin with Pope Francis. Maybe the distance will be a problem to participate, but those who can are invited to come as part of a branch and the Family, October 13-15, 2017.
We concluded our conference with the blessing of the Superior General.
It was a wonderful, enriching experience, and we remain united and using to the full the social media to reduce distance. St. Vincent and St. Louise would be very happy in heaven for the audacity of their sons and daughters. Thank you, Fr. Tomaž, for your closeness.
This experience really commits us to reflect deeply and to live more closely with our brothers who suffer, to accompany them and to assist them in their needs, as we see the growing loss of values, violence, war and family disintegration. There are too many the anti-values, against the Kingdom of God, that trouble us, but as Christians we know that we must assume reality and be transforming people, following Saint Vincent, the Vincentian Saints and Blesseds, and the laity who united their knowledge, love, understanding, solidarity and passion to make a better world in their time.
In conclusion, we call on the Great Vincentian Family in the world, to hold the Cross of truth, to bear the shield of love and to fight for justice, peace and human dignity, for the Word Of God reigns as the only way of salvation in the world.
Present at the meeting were: Sr. Ana Rosa Morán (FAVISAL adviser), Fr. Juan José Mendoza (FAVISAL adviser), Kenty Rosales (seminarian-JMV), Sara Aguilar, Margarita Cruz y Rosa María Araujo (MISEVI).
