Congratulations to Sr. Jean Rhoads DC, who presented the Systemic Change Report of the Federation congregations.
Les Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacre-Coeur hosted a gathering in MONCTON, New Brunswick, Canada. Sixty-four participants who serve in leadership with their congregations of the Sisters of Charity Federation met June 4-8, 2015. They explored the topic: Deepening Charity for the Life of the World. The Federation is composed of two provinces of the Daughters of Charity and 11 congregations of Sisters of Charity in North America.
From their website…
Thursday June 4th Sister Judith Fitzgerald NDSC welcomed sixty-five of our Sisters in leadership as well as S Teresa Kotturan SCN, NGO Rep at the United Nations, and the congregational liaisons to Moncton NB, whose citizens were marking the first anniversary of the fatal shootings of three Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers and recognizing the support the community extended to all the first responders during the difficult days that followed.
Following supper, Agnes Leger NDSC welcomed everyone and gave an outline of the Foundation of the NDSC, Les Religieuses de Notre Dame du Sacre-Coeur, highlighting their roots with the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception of St. John, NB. She also reviewed the history of the Acadian People in New Brunswick, their deportation and return, and the urgency experienced by the Acadian Sisters to minister to Acadians in order to nurture their language, culture, music and faith.
We were welcomed and sent off with the song, Viens Voir l′Acadie – Come, See, Acadia
