A Lenten Shift, metaphorically “shifting gears” in Lent, can be a helpful process. Change what you do. Change what you see, change what you read. We fast so we can feed the deeper parts of ourselves. This is the first of a four week series that invites us to feed our souls with our Vincentian and ecclesial traditions.

Shifting gears in Lent can have many different meanings. Two of the more obvious are shifting into high gear after a good start. Another meaning is more akin to actually getting into gear.

Here is something to consider that fits either meaning in Lent. Shifting from fasting to feeding our Vincentian souls.

First tell me this. How much time do you spend plugged into to some form of digital device? Then, is your Vincentian soul in need of nourishment?

If so, would you consider tithing your digital time to your Vincentian self?

Without getting into a numbers game suppose you were willing to commit to 10-15 minutes a day feeding your Vincentian soul. What would you do?

A first possibility

Draw strength from seeing what others who share your vision are doing. Visit a website of a branch of the Vincentian Family or read about their ministry and activity on .famvin by clicking one of these links:

Reading about the activities of your brothers and sisters in the Vincentian Family fills the soul with hope, and begins to satisfy the unnamed hungers which each of us feel. It starts with Lenten shift, and slowly becomes a permanent change.
