Many in the Vincentian Family are realizing the importance of telling the Vincentian Story.  “Tell your Vincentian Story – the beginnings of an oral history” describes the innovative way used by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to encourage members to tell their story.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has come up with a practical simple way to tell the Vincentian Story and at the same time build an oral history that can be used in drawing others into the Vincentian charism. In their latest newsletter they write…

Come celebrate the SVdP 2015 National Assembly in Providence, Rhode Island and visit Storybooth! Storybooth is a unique opportunity for Vincentians to build an oral history.

This will be a private space in the lobby of the Rhode Island Convention Center where Vincentians can contribute to a video archive by telling their stories.

StoryBooth will be open Thursday and Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The question for Thursday will be: “What inspired you to become a Vincentian and how has it changed your life?”
The question for Friday will be “What was your most memorable or moving home visit?”

The responses we receive on Thursday will be edited into a video package and shown during the Friday luncheon. The Friday video package will be shown during the closing reception and banquet on Saturday.
Following the National Assembly, all the responses will be collected and archived at VincentianStories.org.

This is an exciting beginning to what we hope will be an ongoing oral history of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in our time. So please make plans to visit StoryBooth and tell us YOUR story.

The Vanderbilt Story Booth is a highly customizable and mobile video booth designed to collect and share real time, authentic stories and voices. The Story Booth will travel across campus and provide opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors, and more to develop and share stories.

Here’s how it works, each time you spot the Story Booth, you’ll see a question on the outside. Once you’ve thought of your story, head into the booth, tell us a little about yourself, push record and go! We’ll feature select videos on this website and other sites across campus. When you pop in your email address, we can send the video to you!

Vanderbilt University is the first university to embed a traveling video Story Booth in the undergraduate campus experience. With a high-definition camera, the booth offers the opportunity to capture high quality video that can convey the “real voice” of students, faculty, staff and the multifaceted nature of Vanderbilt’s identity. The Story Booth is mobile, handicap accessible, and can accommodate two people for one-on-one interviews.
