Vincentian Day of Prayer and Fast Tuesday October 14, 2014

Dear Vincentian Family: God is a lover who hungers to be loved in return. Burning with this vision of faith we are challenged by all the angels and saints to live the Gospel and to see Jesus in all those who suffer. We push ourselves to see God in everyone and we are challenged to forgive everyone. We need to pray for help and so praying always is a successful option. We also call on Mary, Queen of the Rosary, Mother of Jesus to help us open our hearts in prayer for everyone in distress. Remember all the clergy, our young people, seminarians and those we serve. You are in my prayers always, I have placed you in the palm of my hand. May you always feel the perfect love of our God. Amen

Guardian Angels – Guardian Angels – Do you still believe in your Guardian Angel. Children of God! Let us all look in the mirror and see the child in us. We are children of God and His love for us is forever and a day, eternity. As children we prayed to our guardian angel every night. I became facinated with angels in high school and began to collect stories and ceramic angels. Each time someone I loved passed away, I put their name on the bottom of an angel. I once read you should know the name of your guardian angel and you just had to pray and ask. I prayed and prayed and in a few weeks all the angels were screaming “Michael”. I guess I’m not a good listener. So, Michael, my guardian angel and I began talking and he comes with me on every visit to those in need. Find the child in yourself and take all the gifts God gives us. Talk to your guardian angel and take your guardian with you as you serve and seek Jesus in those in need. We are often called angels by those in need. I don’t feel like an angel, but my angel and the Trinity are always with me and they guide my words and actions with those in need. We need all the divine help we can get. Angel of God my guardian, be always with me to help and serve Christ in those in need.

Am I a Good Servant? – God is calling us to work together. If we are trying to be holy and work towards sainthood we must know saints are courageous and creative. They say “yes” to God and never get confused by the world. They stand firm in love of others and it is all or nothing. . Saints struggled as do we. My favorite saying is “Saints are the sinners who keep on trying!” We are not designed to be selfish. Being a servant is loving everyone God places before us. Think of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10). We are made in the image of Jesus and are called to serve and be a servant to those in need. We make a difference by showing God’s love in our actions. God is appreciative when you share His truth with others with your service. When you have a great relationship with God, it shows in the love and service you give to others. Well done faithful servant.

Filling the Void with Our Lord: When we are empty, God invites us to turn to the one food none of us can live without: the Eucharist. This is the divine food that nourishes our souls. It’s the one meal we should never skip. The more we have, the more we need and the better we feel it is a holy miracle and can change you each day. When I kneel before the Blessed Sacrament, my prayer is so meaningful. In contemplation I give more of myself to God. I leave feeling an answer to all my prayers and I am filled with joy. I feel Him, taste Him and bask in His fragrance. I stand before Him and know my God and know His love. Where there was hatred, now only love. I really don’t like the phrase, “life is short”. It truly is the most wonderful gift and the longest gift of God any of us will ever experience. When you fill the void you have a true love for God and others and they notice the difference. You can change the world, one step at a time and one visit at a time.

Blessings,

Lynn
