VFCAP 2014 DAY3 (58)Day 5 at VFCAP –  Thursday began with a visit to the tomb of Frederic Ozanam and Mass at St. Joseph Church on the property celebrated in French by Fr. Dan Borlik.

The focus of the morning was Asset Mapping Case Study with Marty Martin.  It was far better than the title sounds!  The table groups were given a case study to create a project charter and integrating the skills and methods from previous sessions. In the debriefing after the activity, Marty Martin gave good feedback as how to use collaboration effectively in planning.
In the afternoon Mary McPhillips opened Module 4: “Catalyst Re-Igniting.” Her focus for the afternoon was to demonstrate reflection and collaboration as a way to enhance one’s capacity as a catalyst.  The group learned about using “Pastoral Reflection” as a reflective tool.
The small groups then used the method to explore an issue one member presented.  The effectiveness of this method was clear during the review of the activity and the positive effect it had on the members of the group and each small group as a unit.  The activity was challenging for both those who were the “presenter” and for those not presenting in the small group there was the challenge to be very good listeners.
Participants meeting in their language core groups at the end of the day reflected how both methods for the day would work cross-culturally.
