Go Out To All The World

LaCapria- go all worldJust as the members of the early Church were called to bring ‘The Way’ to all peoples of the day, so are we called to bring Christ into our world today.  This  pre-Pentecost theme will be the last submission of the series of reflections on The Gospel Of Joy that ran through Lent and the first part of the Easter Season. I encourage you to take the words of Pope Frances and see what personal reflections and images surface for you in your meditation, and share them with someone as we together spread the Good News of the Gospel throughout our global community.

Street lights of an urban setting are reflecting off of anything that is quickly darting about.
At times the pace slows down just enough so that the stream of Christ-light will be able to enlighten hearts.

74. What is called for is an evangelization capable of shedding light on these new ways of relating to God, to
others and to the world around us, and inspiring essential values. It must reach the places where new narratives
and paradigms are being formed, bringing the word of Jesus to the inmost soul of our cities. Cities are multicultural; in the larger cities, a connective network is found in which groups of people share a common imagination and dreams about life, and new human interactions arise, new cultures, invisible cities. Various subcultures exist side by side, and often practice segregation and violence. The Church is called to be at the service of a difficult dialogue.

As we go out to the whole world, let us begin in our own backyard. Allow the light to shine first deep within our souls, shedding clarity on the violence we carry that prevents us from truly loving. The light will open our hearts, our minds and our ears to needs of the masses.

Have so enjoyed Sister Ellen’s unique and sensitive artwork and comments reflecting thoughts of Pope Francis in his “Joy of the Gospel” letter. A beautiful and creative approach so needed in our Vincentian experience. Thank you, Sister Ellen, for revealing your Vincentian heart in this wonderful way for us on our paschal journey.
