DonOctober  2013 — PERRYVILLE, MO—The Association of the Miraculous Medal (AMM) in Perryville, Missouri welcomes Don Fulford as the new President/CEO.  For the first time in the history of the Association, a lay person will serve in this leadership role.  Father Oscar Lukefahr, C.M. will remain the Spiritual Director of the AMM and the Director of Catholic Home Studies Services.  The AMM will rely on Don to provide management skills with his faith commitment to the Catholic tradition.  This will allow Fr. Lukefahr to commit more time to the spiritual needs of the Association’s members.

Don’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts/Education degree from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Arts/Education degree from Western Kentucky University, General Studies at the Lexington Theological Seminary, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University-Purdue University’s School of Philanthropy.  His professional experience includes almost 20 years in a range of diverse  organizations  including  a  regional  medical  society,  a  Kentucky Catholic diocese,  a  state  food program, and an experiential learning organization, all of which are in the nonprofit sector.

Don is excited to be joining the Association of the Miraculous Medal which will give him the opportunity to share his Catholic faith through his work of managing the day-to-day aspects of the organization

The Association of the Miraculous Medal was established in 1918 by the Western Province of the Congregation of the Mission in the United States.  Our mission is to bring Mary, conceived without sin, to the Catholics of North America.  We invite members to greater holiness by attending to their pastoral and spiritual needs, forming them in the Christian life, and involving them in the apostolate of charity, especially toward the clergy and the most abandoned.  The Association spiritually serves more than 192,000 members from all 50 states and 35 countries.  Each year over 2,000 pilgrims visit the Shrine, and the staff handles a monthly average of 2,100 phone calls, 500 emails, and 3,500 personal letters of acknowledgment.

The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is our center of prayer.  Visitors to the Shrine enjoy the opportunity to pray and meditate both in the beautiful old church and around the peaceful grounds.  The historic Saint Mary’s of the Barrens Church, completed in 1837, and the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal located inside the church are both open for tours.  Stop by to see this spiritual campus or for more information visit www.amm.org.
