DC AND CM COLLABORATION IN ETHIOPIA

On Sunday, May 12, 2013 the Daughters of Charity and members of the Congregation of the Mission for a workshop in St. Mary’s Provincial House, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Twenty-nine Sisters (representing all the DC services) and six Vincentian Priests participated.  The main purpose of the workshop was to produce guidelines for newly formed commissions, covering the areas of Education, Social Services, Health, Pastoral Services, Formation and Finance.  This was one of those opportune times for the Daughters of Charity and the Congregation of the Mission to come together in collaboration. Expertly facilitated and guided by Fr. Joe Agostino,CM from the US Eastern Province, the workshop was a lively and energetic experience, producing results that achieved its objective.   The sense of collaboration and the hope for its development lay at the heart of every Sister and Priest present.  Two commissions (Pastoral & Formation) have members from both communities and can move forward in collaboration.  Others, it is hoped, will follow in the future.   Efforts will also be made to bring on board other members of the Vincentian Family currently working in Ethiopia.
