Pioneer in Vincentian Systemic Change Attacked

John Freund, CM
August 27, 2012

We offer the people of Akamasoa and Father Pedro Opeka, CM  our prayers and encouragement.

Akamasoa Center was attacked by 10 bandits early Saturday morning on August 18, 2012. The bandits were armed with guns and swords. They demanded the whereabouts of Father Pedro and asked where the center’s money was kept. When the security guards refused to answer, they were brutally beaten. Five security guards were injured. The bandits then decided to terrorize and rob 2 houses within the village and got away with the equivalent of $170 and cell phones.
