DePaul UK gains from police property auction

Cheques for £500 were given to Depaul UK in The Grove, the country’s largest youth homeless charity, and House of Mercy in Edwin Street, which provides a day centre for homeless people or those with inadequate accommodation.

The money came from the Kent Police Property Fund and was raised by the auctioning of unclaimed lost property and items seized in police operations.

PCSO Dougie Barr, who chose the good causes, handed over the funds.

Depaul’s project manager Jacky Levy said: “PCSO Barr has, over the past year in particular, been instrumental in making the hostel a safe place and is always there to help when we need him. We would like to express our gratitude to Kent Police for the donation which will be put to very good use.”
