Sisters of Charity (Halifax) combatting human trafficking

John Freund, CM
November 25, 2011

The Sisters of Charity-Halifax stand together in a time when we hear the silent cries of victims of human trafficking, especially those women and children taken for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor.

They are committed to alleviating the suffering of victims of human trafficking, especially women and children,
by providing:

  • a welcoming environment where victims can heal and find a new life in safe and secure housing.
  • access to service providers who partner to offer: intensive case management, health care, legal
immigration counseling, translation and educational services.
  • workshops and educational programs for the general public concerning the issues of human trafficking
and suggested action steps to eradicate human rights violations.

Visit their LifeWay Network to learn more about how they collaborate to combat human trafficking through safe housing and education.

It is amazing what the sisters of charity do with the traphic of people. Here in Guatemala Central America suffer this situation. I am a vicentian volunteer and work in a charity Association. I like the idea of doing something like this here. Will keep you in my prayers. YOlanda
