L’Osservatore Romano said ‘The Simpsons are among the few TV programs for children in which Christian faith, religion, and questions about God are recurrent themes.’ Homer Simpson has been declared a true Catholic by the Vatican’s official newspaper.
It is not the first time that the Vatican newspaper has praised The Simpsons. Last December, as the television series celebrated its 20th anniversary, the paper said that “the relationship between man and God” is one of its most important themes and that it often mirrored the “religious and spiritual confusion of our times”.

First, i’m a follower of the Simpsons because i enjoy the satirical treatment of the social, religious and cultural themes, but I think this kind of TV program is not the better one to compare with the life christian. It is true that sometimes the relationship betwen God and men is treated as an important theme but his form is ironic and mocking, putting God like an irreal and fantasy idea or like another man with “certain powers”. I don’t feel identificate as Catholic with The Simpsons. We have to be care of the persons of little faith or of weak faith. Maybe their religions questions could make think someone but the intention of their creators is not make think about faith but yes make joke and put in ridiculous our faith. I think! (Sorry my bad english i wait to be understood)

How disappointing that the Vatican’s Official Newspaper declares Homer Simpson a true Catholic. D’oh! We’re all in big trouble if that’s the case.
This is why so many people are falling away from the faith – a laissez faire attitude adopted by the religious brought on by fear of being ridiculed by the world for taking a hard line against sin and evil.
Jesus was declared a loser by the world and was killed in the most humiliating fashion. We Catholics today are cowards. The devil is hard at work at the Vatican.
