Nothing succeeds like success! The first group of projects funded through Zafen are beginning to pay back their lenders. They represents small local entrepreneurs who are now back in business. The first steps to sustainable growth will encourage others… as those of us who are in a position to yake the risk that our loans will be paid back. Visit theZafen website for details on how to contribute.

Zafen is the way to go. When people hae some employment, the economy groows. As Hatians can develop more susstainable work, the route to recovery is on its way.

The vision to initiate these projects is indeed laudable. Would that more persons would be willing to make a difference in the lives of the poor. Such projects create a ripple effect and give persons feelings of self-worth just by knowing that they are helping themselves and not relying solely on handouts.

We have been trying to get information as to how we might support the First Zafen project in Haiti. The sisters with whom I live are committed to become involved in programs that support the people in Haiti and intend to return the “loan” so other loans can be made. Please send me the information that will help us support this wonderful work. We are ready to hop on board.

The most effective way I know is is to go to the Zafen site http://zafen.org.

Once there you will see on the left hand side of the page links that wikl show the wide variety of projects and how to contribute.

    I hope this helps.

If not, please don’t hesitate to get back to me.

There are even a couple of projects that have completely paid back the loan!
