Fr. Gregory Gay re-elected Superior General

John Freund, CM
July 8, 2010

Fr. Gay was re-elected Superior General of the Congregation of the  Mission. He will serve a second 6 year term through 2016. Since he was one short of the required majority after the second ballot it required a third quick ballot. You can see and hear him describe his impressions from his visits around the world to 80 countries in the last six years.  See his official report to the Assembly  of his first six years. Read a short biography posted in the Vincentian Encyclopedia at the time of his original election.

Counting votes.

Muchas felicidades padre Gregorio. Que el Señor le bediga y le acompañe en su misión. Cuenta con nuestras oraciones. Esperamos que la Virgen Milagrosa le ilumine y le de la energía necesaria para continuar al lado de los pobres.

Congratulations Father Gregory. The Lord bless and accompany with you on your mission. You have our prayers. I hope the Miracolouse Medall with you, enlighten you and give you energy to continue your mission to the side of the Poor.

Congratulations, Father Greg! It is a tremendous responsibility leading the many branches of the Vincentian Family. The task (and joy) of the Vincentian Family is living the charism of Vincent in a world filled with complexity and diversity. Poverty, however, was the driving force in Vincent’s life – and ours. Thank you for accepting the leadership of this enormous and energetic family. Your obvious love of, and experience with the Poor, make you our much loved leader. I keep you in prayer.

Greg, Congratulations. Tried to send you a Chinese congratulations but the website doesn’t recognize Chinese characters. You must get that fixed. Thanks so much for your concern for Taiwan and China. I was impressed when you visited the Philippine Province and you took time to be with our 5 Chinese Mainland seminarians. God bless and let’s keep praying for one another.
