An example of an Earth Day focus

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have been one of the most vocal and active champions of being good stewards of the Earth as the Pope has often called us to in recent times. Nazareth is the largest purchaser of green electric energy of all Salt River Electric customers. Other “green” acts on the SCN campus include using only UTZ-certified coffee beans, meaning it is produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner; partnering with the Nelson County Cooperative Extension Service to provide community garden plots; using geothermal heat; and “water harvesting” all water for trees and gardens from on-campus ponds.
