Following its huge success in Sydney last year, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout goes National on Thursday June 17th, 2010, when hundreds of top CEOs and business leaders will sleep out across Australia. The event aims to challenge participating high profile CEO’s and opinion formers to sleep out for a night and experience homelessness first hand. The Sleepout means braving the cold on cardboard mats in order to raise awareness and money in support of Vinnies homeless services.

The event which was launched today as part of Vinnies Winter Appeal, aims to raise awareness about homelessness, and to raise funds for Vinnies Homeless services across Australia. Last year in Sydney alone, more than 200 business leaders slept out to raise $620,000, which exceeded all expectations!

This year the event will be held in Sydney, Canberra (Australian Museum), Melbourne (Etihad Stadium), Adelaide (Adelaide Zoo), Perth (WACA), Darwin (the Gardens Oval) and Brisbane (Suncorp Piazza, Southbank) with an income target of more than $1 million. Tasmanian CEOs will sleep out at the Melbourne Event.

Participating CEO’s can register on www.ceosleepout.org.au

In Adelaide we are planning on more than 100 Chief Executives and Company Directors sleeping out overnight at the Adelaide Zoo, in order to raise money for the homeless. More than 100,000 Australians are homeless and the number is expected to increase. This is our turn to raise the profile of this important issue and do something worthwhile for those less fortunate than ourselves.
