CM appointed Archbishop Metropolitan of Ljubljana

180px-anton_stresThe Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Antón Stres CM, up to present coadjutor bishop of Maribor,Slovenia, Archbishop Metropolitan of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He succeeds Archbishop Alojzij Uran, whose resignation Pope accepted according to canon 401, paragraph 2 of C.C.L.

Archdiocese of Ljubljana has the area of 6,134 sq.km, population of 768,647 of which 570,985 are Catholics. There are 438 priests, 604 religious and 9 permanent deacons. Archbishop of Ljubljana is also the Primate of Slovenia. Cardinal Franc Rodé CM was Archbishop of Ljubljana (1997 – 2004).
