Trabejemos por la Paz y Desarrollo”

e three-day conference will take place in Mexico City, Mexico at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from Wednesday, September 9 to Friday, September 11, 2009.The 62nd DPI/NGO Conference is being organized in partnership with the United Nations Department of Public Information, the NGO/DPI Executive Committee, the Government of Mexico and the UN Office of Disarmament Affairs.

The conference aims to promote ways in which civil society, in partnership with those in business, academia, philanthropy, media and medicine can work together for disarmament, peace and development.

One of the goals is to make people aware of how disarmament can promote sustainable peace, alleviate poverty, allow people to become educated and receive necessary health care, and to enjoy basic human rights and freedom from fear.

We, Daughters of Charity, support peace and development in numerous ways as we work to alleviate poverty through education, health care,  and social services for people living in poverty in all the countries where we serve.  Our special concern for the rights of women and children who are living in vulnerable situations is a concrete expression of our efforts to bring about peace and development in our world.

What an honor to be in the same Community with these women. I am so proud to know that Pat Connelly will be there. I will certainly be there with them in prayer. Once again, thanks to FAMVIN for keeping us informed.
