SVDP in Australia facing unprecedented needs for housing

St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland spokeswoman, Julie McDonald, says that the the organisation, which has just launched its Winter Appeal, is facing unprecedented demand for emergency accommodation and help. Whole families had been put out into the street for the first time in recent memory, Ms McDonald told The Brisbane Times. And because the Society had space for only 1000 people a night, many were being turned away.
