“… they become part of the people that they work with, … They’ve been so inspirational to me. They just quietly do their work — they don’t ask for anything in return.”

The San Antonio Express-News writes

The Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul arrived to teach catechism at several parishes in South Bexar County, but they soon realized the need was much greater than that.” is the lead to a review of their 50 years in South Texas.

For 50 years, about 150 Daughters have provided medical care, education, social services and infrastructure improvements in rural communities south of San Antonio.

It all started in 1961 with a clinic in a tiny two-room house on the grounds of El Carmen Catholic Church, which later moved to a 24-by-26-footcinderblock structure.
