Sister Marilyn Moore, DC works with with two young, dedicated and bilingual Vietnamese women focusing on the large Asian—Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian population in the area. She writes…

Since Hurricane Katrina in the fall of 2005, I have served in the Bayou la Batre area, which was especially hard-hit by the storm. A grant was obtained to provide basic nursing and social services to persons in this devastated area. A nurse and social worker were to assess and address, as much as possible, the immediate health needs through numerous health screenings and follow-up, as well as provide basic needs such as bedding, clothing and personal items.

…There is still much to be done, but the care and caring of the Providence Outreach team has done much to bring hope and better health to those we have been privileged to serve.
