Vinnies Youth - peer ministry takes on youth addictions

“Tackling a marijuana addiction, taking on a traineeship, staying at school to finish the year 10 certificate, having the courage to speak in front of your peers about your personal situation … these were just some of the monumental outcomes from a rural youth leadership camp held in Forbes New South Wales late last month.” writes Emma Maslin of a “Young Vinnies” program.


Vinnies Youth is the name for the inspiring young people who volunteer for the St Vincent de Paul Society Australia.

There are thousands of young people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people around Australia.

Vinnies Youth is a broad term to encompass all ages and groups of volunteers including Young Adults, Young Vinnies (High School and Colleges) and Mini Vinnies (Primary Schools).

The influence of a 20 year old student named Frederic Ozanam continues today in Australia. . It was established by youth in the spirit of youth and this compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision
