A collaborative project in California finds that “offer[ing] juvenile offenders and their families a broad range of treatment options outside the confines of a traditional youth detention facility” has more success in reducing future crime than does traditional incarceration. Read the story.

    Tne New York Times today contains an article about New York’s Juvenile Justice Initiative, which “sends medium-risk juvenile offenders back to their families and provides intensive therapy.” NYC reports “significant success” with the juveniles in the program.
