Catholics Called To Act On Climate Chnage

PARRAMATTA NSW, June 1, 2007 (parra.catholic.org.au):  The June 2007 of Catholic Outlook, the monthly publication of the diocese of Parramatta (western region of Sydney), calls on Catholics to act on climate change – There is much that we can do, both politically on the global scale and personally. Catholics number about one billion people worldwide. We can be mobilised to act and lobby at every level of government and science.  Ours is, above all else, a life-affirming theology and belief. Life is respected and cherished from conception to the grave. Catholic spirituality affirms the natural beauty of creation as an image of God.  In 1990, as the ecological crisis loomed, Pope John Paul II declared climate change to be the “moral issue we must face”. The time is at hand, as St Paul might have said, “to fight the good fight”.    Tim Williams CM Points to this source in the Catholic Outlook.
