The Daughters of Charity of the Emmitsburg Province have adopted a corporate stance on the issue of the privatization of water.”After thorough study of the reasons for and against the use of bottled water and in solidarity with poor people throughout the world who suffer the effects of the privatization of water resources, we, the Daughters of Charity of the Emmitsburg Province, commit to the following actions:

1. Reduce the use of bottled water to absolute necessity.

2. Invite members of the Sisters of Charity Federation in the Vincentian and Setonian Tradition to join the corporate stance.

3. Notify companies that manufacture bottled water of our stance.

4. Develop an education program for use in our ministries to help make more public the reasons for our corporate stance.
