Sr Anna, Visitatrice of Indonesia, writes:
We will build approximately seven houses for the families of our sisters who have lost everything because of the disaster. Currently, some of our Sisters are working in the devastated area. These sisters come from local communities in Jakarta, Bojonegoro, Surabaya, Kediri and Tulungagung. We have also rented an ambulance to transport the victims of the earthquake to the hospital. The hospital at Jogyakarta is full and cannot receive any more patients so we have to use the hospitals in Solo and Klaten. It was terrible looking for services in Jogyakarta, Klaten and Bantul for those who are victims of the earthquake. We work in partnership with the Vincentians, the Franciscan Sisters and other Religious. Next Wednesday, we will take part in a remembrance Mass for the deceased members of our sisters’ families. Sr Philomena will represent us at the funeral service.”
