Anna Marie Escano writes … ” I have been busy with the activities of the JMV Association here in the Archdiocese of Cebu (Philippines).
Last October 2, we launched the opening of the celebration of our centennial anniversary at the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion, my alma mater. It was in this very same school that the first JMV (known here as Children of Mary) group was established on October 2, 1905. More than 600 members coming from different parishes and schools all over the island came to take part in this simple yet memorable event. Bishop Emilio Bataclan (Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu) presided over the Eucharistic Celebration together with a number of priests who help in the animation of the association.

And so, His Eminence Cardinal Ricardo Vidal, Archbishop of Cebu, on the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Association here in the Archdiocese of Cebu has declared a SPECIAL YEAR OF GRACE from October 2, 2004 to October 2, 2005. Cardinal Vidal also declared the Chapel of the Asilo de la Milagrosa as a PLACE OF PILGRIMAGE within the specified period, granting a PLENARY INDULGENCE to everyone who visits this chapel, after praying one OUR FATHER and one HAIL MARY.

After that event, we have been busy visiting the different groups because we believe that nothing can replace a visit
it is that personal touch which strengthens our commitment and camaraderie. For two consecutive weekends, I took part in these meetings at the northernmost tipo of the island together with the Sister Advisor and two other members of the Archdiocesan Council. This weekend I will be out again, this time to another island, Southern Leyte, where they will hold their regional convention. Please join us as we thank God for all the beautiful things happening in the association.
