Tax Cuts Would Divide Australians

SYDNEY, May 12, 2004 (coss.net.au): The Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS)  today responded in detail to the tax cuts announced in the federal Budget warning that they would weaken Australia and divide Australians.  “The $4 billion a year tax cuts would divide Australians – between the well off tax cut winners and lower income losers and between those in work and those not.” ACOSS President, Andrew McCallum, said.  “The tax cuts would mean less money will be available for essential health, education and welfare services.
