It’s ‘training with a purpose’ for Seabees, who saved Council $120,000 in camp cabin construction costs
Circle V Ranch Camp, Los Padres National Forest, CA — A group of United States Naval Seabee reservists just completed an important construction mission, but this one was far from the dangers of Iraq, where many of their comrades are stationed.

This mission, instead, found the troops — all of whom volunteered to work more than their required two weeks of active duty — toiling mostly under a hot sun in a bucolic, oak-filled locale in the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest outside Santa Barbara, and it involved the Seabees saving the Society of St. Vincent de Paul thousands of dollars in construction costs to help turn its aged camp for needy children into a year-round facility that will be open to groups serving at-risk teenagers during the months of the year when summer camp is not in session.
