AIC To Pray Together on Feast of St. Louise

Beth
February 16, 2003

Each year, the AIC invites us to take part in a common prayer day: today all AIC members over the world are praying together on the occasion of the feast of Saint Louise de Marillac.
The Lord didn’t create us as isolated and selfish individuals, but as members of the big human family, in which we are responsible for each other, and open to the other, rich of their difference. Prayer is more powerful when it is done together.

In its Message for the Day of Peace, the Holy Father said :« Lord, may this Year be a year of Peace ». We welcome His invitation and we pray together for peace.

The theme of peace was the link of the 2002 International Assembly, during which the AIC members, convinced to be all co – responsible of poverties in the world, and therefore co – responsible of looking for solutions and alternatives, dedicated to reinforce their commitment in the struggle against poverties, because they consider it a privileged way to build a world of peace.

We suggest you to pray together starting with some intercessions extracted from the liturges of the Assembly of Delegates in Nice, and to continue with prayers linked with the themes developed during the assembly as well.

Intercessions

– Lord, have a look on the situation of injustice, hate, violence and war that generates poverty all over the world and especially in Africa. Send, Lord, a new breath so that the people endeavor to build a more unified world.

– The natural disasters and the evolution of history seem to overwhelm us and let us distressed. Lord, when it was unexpected, You always saved the weak. Encourage us, even in despairing situations, to participate in the transformation of our societies in favor of the poorest and most resourceless.

– So that us all, members of the AIC, united in this day of prayer, we open our minds and our hearts to the Holy Spirit, so that He helps us to be real instruments of justice and peace.

– May peace be on earth through me. May peace be on earth, Peace that must be. With God our Father, we are a family. Let’s walk together all in harmony.

– Peace is coming and is coming from me. Whatever is my desire at each of my steps. To live every moment in eternal peace. May peace be on earth and it comes from me.

– Lord, we thank Your grace. You created us unique and exceptional, You allow us to be part of this association, offering our expertise, our ability, our love for the project of building peace, transforming and freeing the world.

Amen

Let’s pray together

Lord, just as Saint Louise
Give me to see the things to do
Without forgetting the people to love,
And to see people to love
Without forgetting the things to do

Give me to see the true needs of others,
It is so difficult
Not to want in the place of others,
Not to decide in the place of others.
It is so difficult, Lord,
Not to take our desires
For the desires of others
When they are so different from ours.

Saint Louise, help us, as you did,
to call the Spirit.
It guides us every day,
In our work by the resourceless, our brothers.

Oh Lord, our planet Earth is only a small star in space. It is our duty, to transform it into a planet whose creatures are no longer tormented by war, no longer senselessly divided by race, color or ideology. Give us courage and strength to begin this task today so that our children and children?s children shall one day carry the name of ?MAN? with pride.
United Nations Prayer

The man’s esteem for the other is the source of peace and reconciliation. If each respects the dignity of others, then peace would be possible.

Peace is giving peace to others.
