Connection between the Miraculous Medal and Vincentian Family

Fr. Shelby, CM, describes the Vincentian connection between the Association of the Miraculous Medal and the Vincentian Family as well as plans for a pilgrimage. The “Vincentian Family” is a description for all the organizations that were founded or inspired by Saint Vincent de Paul and his love for the poor. Many of these groups, like the Association of the Miraculous Medal are international in character. Others, like the Seton Federation of the Sisters of Charity, are national. Some are local, existing only in one place.

Perhaps at first you do not see a connection between Saint Vincent’s love of the poor and our Association. But our Lady did! That’s the reason she came to Saint Catherine where and when she did. The poor were suffering, Saint Catherine was serving the poor in the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, under the direction of a Vincentian priest, and Mary is the mother of the poor—they are her children. As a member of the Association of the Miraculous Medal today, you help Mary give hope and service to her poor children.
