The Work of the DC in Angola

The Daughters of Charity have been in Angola since 1995. Four of our Sisters from North America collaborated for 3 years with the Catholic Relief Services that have links with Caritas, working on a rehabilitation project for the Hospital of Balombo. Their main work there was to ensure the training of “technicians” (auxiliary nurses). The 15 March 2002 Mother Juana Elizondo, Superioress General, Sister Maria Luisa Morante, General Councillor, and the Provincial Superiors of Saint Vincent, Madrid came to our house “Saint Louise of Marillac” in Luanda, the capital of Angola. That house was inaugurated on the feast of our foundress and in the presence of her 54th successor. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Father Gustavo, a Salesian priest from Argentina, who is in charge of the apostolate to young people.
