The article Louise de Marillac and Elizabeth Bayley Seton: Women of
Spirit by Anne Higgins, D.C., and Betty Ann McNeil, D.C., appears in
the May-June 2002 issue of Review for Religious, (vol 61, #3).

This poetic rendition compares and contrasts the life experiences and
spiritual journey of Louise de Marillac and Elizabeth Bayley Seton as
women who were wives, mothers, and widows involved in social ministry
and spiritual leadership leading to their transformation in Christ and
sanctity.

The text is suitable for discussion or portrayal with associates, lay
and young adult groups, and anyone interested in discovering more about
the Vincentian and Setonian tradition.

A version of this article was
first presented at Seton Legacy III, a symposium on Elizabeth Seton and
Incarnational Spirituality for a Contemporary World (Sisters of
Charity Federation, 2001). This dramatic reflection may incorporate
music and song for use as a multi-media presentation.
