We continue to receive news about the activities of the members of the Vincentian Family to alleviate the situation of people suffering from the devastation of an unjust war. From Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Paderborn, Germany, the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul have informed us about their ministry. In addition to praying insistently to God to end this senseless invasion, they are also involved in sheltering the refugees who are beginning to arrive in their city as well as sending basic materials to the conflict zone.

Peace is worth far more than anything that might be taken from you (CCD:III:612-613). This reference to the writings of our patron, Saint Vincent de Paul, expresses our hopes and our desires as we continue to experience the events taking place in Ukraine.

We do not want to turn our backs on the reality, but rather we want to encourage people to speak out against injustice and hatred and to express their solidarity through common prayer and action.

In our weekly prayer for peace, we join with all the people threatened by the war in Ukraine.

Together with the people of the city of Paderborn, we have organized the delivery of needed assistance and we have been able to provide safe refuge to six families

We continue to do everything possible to assist those men and women and children in need
