Youth Empowerment Program in Oyugis, Kenya
Thanks to CMM brothers and the Oyugis Integrated Project, the youth, especially young women, have been provided with an opportunity that brightens their future.
The Youth Empowerment Program was initiated last year for students who had to abandon their studies. It was begun for the purpose of providing these young people with simple skills that would enable them to become self-sufficient and self-employed. Most of these individuals are young women who are the victims of early pregnancies.
The program has continued to move forward. It began with few young women and now there are fifteen very dedicated young women. They have engaged in creating table mats, woolen table cloth and door mats. These are simple skills that require less capital to start their own business. These young people are also being trained to become dress makers and they are also provided with peer counselling.
Our vision is to help end the cycle of poverty in the family.
