May 3, 1871 marks the official founding of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Mary. Their Founder, Mother Clarac, a former Daughter of Charity, wanted to keep alive the spirit of charity that was received from Saint Vincent de Paul … that is, serving the poor with simplicity and humility and serving them in order to satisfy both their material and spiritual needs.
