The “Santa Rosa” boarding school in Moro (Peru)
A few weeks ago, another anniversary of the creation of SANTA ROSA BOARDING SCHOOL — located in the district of Moro, Peru — was celebrated with great joy. This institution is directed by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul, and its main purpose is to guarantee one of the fundamental rights of the person: education. To do this, it welcomes young ladies from different populations far from the large urban centers, whose schools do not have the level of secondary education, with the aim of providing facilities for them to access this service.
The young ladies who use the boarding school services, also receive pedagogical support to improve their performance in school. In addition, spiritual growth activities are carried out, so that, according to the example of St. Vincent, they may be people sensitive to the lacks of others and always willing to help those who need it most.
The SANTA ROSA boarding school, faithful to the Vincentian charism of serving the poor and excluded with love, gives young ladies with low economic resources the chance to successfully complete their secondary education studies and, thus, have a better chance of success in the future.
Santa Rosa de Lima is the patron of the boarding school. Therefore, on August 30, her feast was celebrated with great joy, with the active participation of parents of the residents, who are always close and willing to help the mission of the boarding school; in addition, allied institutions which unconditionally respond to strengthen our work participated, such as the National Police and the Municipality.
The most important activities were the Thanksgiving Mass, with the participation of the entire Christian community of Moro, and the presentation of artistic shows, which include the staging of the dance cast composed of young men from the SANTO TORIBIO boarding school and the ladies of the SANTA ROSA boarding school.
We deeply thank everyone who makes this mission possible to help those who need it most.
